Account and Log-in Credentials: When you register for an Alkemi account, we collect your email address, name, and profile credentials securely via Firebase Authentication.
Chat Questions and Usage: We collect and index chemistry questions, prompts, and code-related queries submitted to our chat interface. This data is utilized solely for improving solution accuracy, debugging system errors, and tailoring Alkemi to the Sri Lankan A/L organic chemistry syllabus.

2. How Data is Stored

Your user profile, account settings, payment status, and question history are securely stored using Google Firebase/Firestore. Firebase is built on Google Developer infrastructure and utilizes robust security parameters to encrypt your data in transit and at rest.

3. Third-Party AI Processors

To provide textbook-quality explanation steps, structural chemical diagrams, and bilingually accurate answers, we safely proxy chemistry queries to secure, enterprise-grade LLM platforms (including Google Gemini and OpenRouter API endpoints).

While the content of your chemistry question and any uploaded images of exam papers are processed by these models, no personally identifiable information (such as your email, name, or account ID) is ever shared with these AI providers.

4. Core Privacy Promise

We do not sell, rent, lease, or distribute your email, profile information, or chemistry query history to any third-party advertisers, data firms, or marketing companies. Your efforts, scores, and questions remain strictly confidential.

5. Cookies

Alkemi uses only necessary operational session cookies and local storage state keys to keep you securely authenticated across browser refreshes and to preserve your preference controls (such as sidebar toggle status). We do not run intrusive tracking or targeting cookies.

6. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You retain complete authority over your personal information. You can request a copy of your collected user profile or demand the permanent deletion of your account and all associated question history at any time.
